Ur. 1968; magisterium na UW 1994; doktorat w 2002, habilitacja 2013. Zatrudniony w Zakładzie Historii Starożytnej UW kolejno jako asystent, adiunkt, profesor uczelni. Prowadził projekt Prezbiterzy na późnoanycznym Zachodzie i był odpowiedzialny za łacińską część grantu The Cult of Saints.  A research project on the Cult of Saints from its origins to circa AD 700, across the entire Christian world. Obecnie kieruje Centrum Badań nad Cywilizacjami Starożytnymi (CRAC).
